School Counselor Information

Mrs. Grosso and Mrs. Karmecy

Throughout the school year we provide a tiered curriculum to the students of CVE. Each month students participate in a counseling classroom lesson. Mrs. Grosso facilitates lessons for Kindergarten through 2nd grade students, and Mrs. Karmecy facilitates 3rd and 4th grade classroom lessons. The lessons are based on Second Step Curriculum.  Second Step is a social-emotional learning tool, and the curriculum aides in instruction by providing pictures, videos, and songs to help students remember and utilize lesson content.

Small group counseling is another service available to all students.  Mrs. Grosso leads CVE's small group counseling. Group content is determined by student needs. Group counseling is designed to help students with specific challenges including, making and keeping friends or calming down strong emotions. Groups may also help students navigate their feelings and emotions while going through a divorce or separation or grieving a loss in their life.

One-on-one sessions can also be provided to students to work on specific skills to help in achieving at his or her best ability.

Our goal is to help break down the barriers that may prohibit students from reaching their goals.  We want to encourage all the students of CVE to work through challenges and persevere.  Each CVE student will leave the building with tools and skills to help them succeed as they learn more about the world around them and what they want to achieve in their futures.
