Seneca Valley is committed to supporting the academic and behavioral success of every student. To help achieve this goal, we are implementing a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS)—a comprehensive framework that ensures all students receive the level of support they need to grow and succeed.
MTSS provides a continuum of evidence-based support in reading, math, behavior, and social-emotional learning. Our intervention teams are trained to assess student progress, analyze data, and provide targeted instruction aligned to individual needs. This allows us to respond quickly and effectively when students need additional support or enrichment.
A key part of this process is What I Need (WIN) time. WIN is a 30-minute block built into the school day where students participate in small-group instruction based on their current progression of skills. These groups may focus on strengthening foundational skills or extending learning and are led by classroom teachers and/or interventionists. This is not part of special education but is designed to help all students build critical skills. Instruction is flexible and adjusted based on ongoing progress monitoring.
As part of our commitment to supporting the whole child, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is also embedded within MTSS. PBIS is a proactive, school-wide approach that teaches and reinforces positive behavior, creating a safe and respectful environment where students can learn and grow. It helps set clear expectations for behavior and provides consistent support to help students meet those expectations.
Parent communication and involvement are integral to the success of the MTSS framework. We value your insights and will work closely with you throughout the problem-solving process to ensure your child is supported every step of the way. Together, our collective efforts create a well-rounded, responsive approach to student growth.
