PBIS at Home
Supporting PBIS at Home
Families play an important role in reinforcing the positive behaviors and expectations students learn at school. By partnering together, we can help children build the skills needed to be successful, confident, and responsible both in and out of the classroom.
Here are some simple ways to support PBIS at home:
Talk about school day every day.
· Ask your child about their experiences, successes, challenges, and interactions at school to encourage communication and reflection.
Review our core PBIS values and expectations.
· Before your child begins the school day, revisit what it means to be safe, kind, and responsible at school and in the community.
Teach and model positive behaviors at home.
· Help your child understand how being safe, kind, and responsible applies in everyday situations such as completing chores, resolving conflicts, and showing respect to others.
Set clear expectations and routines.
· Establish consistent rules and routines within your home and explain why they are important. Predictable expectations help children feel supported and successful.
Recognize and celebrate positive choices.
· Praise and reward your child when they demonstrate expected behaviors. Positive reinforcement helps encourage continued growth and responsibility.
Stay involved in the school community.
· Attend school events, participate in meetings, volunteer when possible, and engage in school activities to help strengthen our positive school culture.
Working together, families and schools can create consistent expectations and a supportive environment where all students thrive.
